Shanichara Temple
Shri Shanichara Temple is under the control of the Religious Trusts and Endowments Department of the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The Shri Shanichara Temple complex is being developed as a major religious tourist destination.
Over the past few years, in view of the ever-increasing number of devotees visiting the temple, various development works have been undertaken and facilities have been expanded. Thousands of devotees visit the temple every Saturday from different states of India, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Bihar, and Gujarat. Devotees also visit the temple from abroad, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.
A special fair is organized here on the occasion of Shanichari Amavasya, during which lakhs of devotees gather at the temple.
To transform Shanichara Hill into a beautiful, serene, and green hill and to provide better facilities to pilgrims, several development projects are being planned. These include a separate large bathing pool, facilities for the offering of oil and clothing, drinking-water facilities from the foothill, a dharamshala, an auditorium, a market, a research and spiritual centre, and a ropeway. These proposals are currently under consideration.
In the coming years, Shri Shanichara Temple and its surrounding area are expected to emerge as a renowned religious tourist destination and become a focal point for the economic and social development of Morena district.
We look forward to everyone’s cooperation and support in this sacred endeavour.
